2002 Rhodes Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

The Rhodes Vineyard is located in Redwood Valley, where the summer heat produces grapes with intense flavors. Annette and Richard Rhodes own the vineyard. The fruit for the Cabernet Sauvignon comes from vines planted in 1916. These vines, 12” thick stand 7’ tall without support. My mother was born the year they were planted.

Annette and Richard are worthy custodians of these vines planted by an Italian immigrant at the turn of the last century. We are very grateful to be able to turn the fruit of these ancient vines into wine.

This Cabernet has a beautiful garnet color with spicy currant and black pepper aroma. It is a complex wine with wonderful dark fruit flavors. The wine has a chewy mouth feel and a delightfully smooth finish. This wine is delicious now or can be put down to savor in the future.
